The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Chemical Agents) (Amendment) Regulations 2015 are aimed at updating and enhancing regulations related to chemical agents in the Irish workplace. These amendments are designed to improve the protection of workers' health and safety by aligning with EU directives and regulations.
The amendments seek to transpose Article 4 of EU Directive 2014/27/EU into national legislation. This directive refers to the classification, labelling, and packaging of substances and mixtures, ensuring consistency with the EU's CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. By incorporating these changes, the regulations aim to strengthen the management of chemical agents in workplaces, ultimately enhancing worker safety and well-being.
This regulation comes into force on the 22nd of December 2015.
