The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 2002 place a duty on any responsible person who places PPE on the market to comply with certain requirements. These requirements are that the PPE must satisfy the basic health and safety requirements which are applicable to that class or type of PPE, the appropriate conformity assessment procedures must have been carried out, CE marking must have been correctly affixed and the PPE must not compromise the safety of individuals, domestic animals or property when properly maintained and used.
