The Personal
Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 sets out requirements for
employers to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for workers. In the
legislation, PPE includes all equipment (including clothing that affords
protection against the weather) to reduce and prevent risks to employees’
health or safety. It also includes any additions or accessories to the PPE
articles (e.g. Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) hoses and fittings etc.)
that are designed to protect workers.
