Overview


These Regulations are an extension of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, making provision for integrated pollution control and the control of air pollution by local authorities. These regulations specify the processes which are prescribed for the purposes of the 1990 Act, prescribe the substances the release of which into a particular medium is controlled and designate the prescribed processes either for central integrated pollution control by certain local authorities in Wales, England and Scotland. Those authorities are:

  • Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Pollution in England and Wales; and 
  • Her Majesty’s Industrial Pollution Inspectorate or river purification authorities in Scotland.
