Overview


This Act contains provisions relating to buildings, particularly for the design, construction or demolition of buildings, or their services, fittings and/or equipment.

The main purpose of these provisions is the enactment of building regulations through the Secretary of State to secure building health and safety and welfare, conserve fuel and power and prevent waste during construction, protect the environment, facilitate sustainable development and prevent or detect crime.
