The Road Traffic Act 2016 intends to modernise existing road traffic legislation. The Act is largely administrative updating past enactments in relation to written-off vehicles, drug-driving offences, speed limits, fixed charge offences and further miscellaneous changes. The legislation also establishes a bilateral agreement between the UK and Ireland which enables both jurisdictions to recognise driving disqualifications.
