These Regulations implement EU Directive 2014/53/EU on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of radio equipment. They require economic operators (manufacturers, importers and distributors) to ensure that radio equipment products placed on the market or put into service in the UK meet the essential safety requirements in order to ensure the health and safety of persons and domestic animals and the protection of property, promote efficient use of the radio spectrum and to prohibit any harmful interference with the radio spectrum.
