These Regulations implement certain EU legislation (Directive 2004/18/EC) on defence and security procurement into the UK context, and remove certain defence and security procurements from the existing regulatory regime (which included both UK and Scottish legislation), and extend to certain contracting entities. They apply only if there is a procurement of equipment, works or services which are for security purposes and involve, require or contain classified information.
These Regulations should be of significant interest to those people working in the field of public procurement, specifically defence and security related procurement.
