The purpose of this Order is to uphold copyright protection framework previously established for works from third countries under the 2013 Order, which this Order revokes. This update is intended to synchronize the compliance of third countries with relevant international treaties concerning copyright protection.
Upon enforcing this Order the copyright protection granted to works from third countries, previously established by the Copyright and Performances (Application to Other Countries) Order 2013 will be governed by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (CPDA). This transition occurs through provisions of the CPDA, specifically those substituted (under section 159) or amended (under section 206) by section 22 of the Intellectual Property Act 2014, in addition to the provisions outlined in this Order.
