The Act introduces a phased entitlement to paid sick leave, beginning with three days (in 2023), rising to five days (2024), and increasing to ten days by 2026. This entitlement is to be paid by the employer at 70% of the employee’s wage, subject to a daily maximum. To qualify, employees must have completed 13 weeks of continuous employment and provide a valid medical certificate.
