Regulation (EU) 2015/479 on common rules for exports

Made: 11-03-2015 | Laid: 11-03-2015 | Forced: 11-03-2015

Overview

The basic principle of the Regulation (EU) 2015/479 on common rules for exports is that the exportation of products from the Union to third countries shall be free, that is to say, they shall not be subject to any quantitative restriction, with the exception of those restrictions which are applied in conformity with this Regulation.

The Regulation (EU) 2015/479 also sets out some governance procedures for the European Commission to manage the processes of how the legislation applies. For example, if  unusual developments on the market require temporary quantitative restrictions to be applied in respect of certain exports. The procedures include a notification and consultation procedure, and rules concerning the implementation of quantitative restrictions.

Please note, as the UK is no longer part of the EU, this Regulation is applicable to organisations that are moving items between EU member states.
