Overview


Under this Act doctors in Northern Ireland have an obligation to notify authorities if they have grounds to believe a patient of theirs is suffering from a notifiable disease. The Act is one of the many and diverse laws that make up the field of public health law in Northern Ireland and is concerned primarily with the notification and prevention of certain infectious diseases. It gives some public bodies unusual powers for dealing with certain dangerous scenarios.
