The Act makes provision on the security of internet-connectable products and products capable of connecting to such products, as well as electronic communications infrastructure. The Act creates a new regulatory scheme to make consumer connectable products (“smart” products) more secure against cyber attacks, and contains provisions intended to accelerate the deployment and expansion of mobile, full fibre and gigabit-capable networks across the UK that deal with the rights of Code operators to install, maintain and use electronic communications apparatus.
