The Online Safety and Media Regulation (OSMR) Act replaces the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland with The Media Commission (Coimisiún na Meán). The Media Commission will regulate governing broadcasting, audio-visual on-demand media services, and video-sharing platform services. Additionally, it will be responsible for creating and managing a registry of media services covering all audiovisual on-demand media services in Ireland.
Broadcasting companies, audiovisual media service providers, and online platforms offering video-sharing services would need to be familiar with the regulations outlined in this act to ensure compliance with the law.
