Overview


This Republic of Ireland Act provides for public access, to the greatest extent possible consistent with the public interest and the right to privacy, to information in the possession of public bodies (FOI body). The Act contains a number of provisions related to data security and freedom of information, and defines the role of the Information Commissioners Office in terms of safeguarding personal information held by public bodies and allowing varying levels of access to the public wanting to correct said personal information.
