The purpose of this Directive is to ensure that products placed on the market are safe. The Directive establishes non-binding guidelines aimed at indicating simple and clear criteria and practical rules which may change, in particular for the purpose of allowing efficient notification of measures restricting the placing on the market of products in the cases referred to in this Directive, whilst taking into account the range of situations dealt with by EU economic operators.
