The Irish Government approved the sharing of specific information by the Garda Síochána Commissioner, in line with the Garda Síochána’s statutory functions under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 and its operational independence in investigating or prosecuting offences. This approval supports a directive issued on 28 July 2023 requiring the Commissioner to share information with the Victims’ Payments Board of Northern Ireland.
